A. Martin Salvesen, 84, of Whiting, Manchester, passed away Monday, December 8, at home. Born in Hoboken, he lived in Ridgefield Park before moving to Whiting 18 years ago. Mr. Salvesen was a draftsman for Allied Stores, New York, NY. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Sons of Norway and Christ Lutheran Church, Whiting. He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Gumbrecht of Valley Cottage, NY and Monica Colvin and her husband, Greg of Lebanon, IL; one sister, Audrey Hawley of Ridgefield Park and two grandsons, Bryan and Brett Adams. Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 40 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, NJ 08759.
