Alberta H. Abbey, 81, of Crestwood Village V, Whiting, MANCHESTER, passed away Saturday, October 4, at home. Mrs. Abbey was born in Lyndhurst, lived in Belleville and Matawan for 20 years before moving to Whiting in 1988. She worked as a Clerk and Bookkeeper for Revlon Corporation, Passaic for six years, retiring in 1974. She was a member and Lay Eucharist Minister of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Whiting and belonged to the church's E.C.W. She was a member of the Village V Residents Club and Women's Club and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post #8745, Whiting. Mrs. Abbey was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Frederick G., Sr. in August 2008 and her brother, Edward McMickle. She is survived by two children, Frederick G. Abbey, Jr. of Palm Coast, Fla. and Diane M. Abbey of San Antonio, Texas; five grand-children, Stephanie D. Luneau, Melissa M. Pineda, Michelle A. Nardone, Jennifer R. Nuncio and Christopher M. Abbey and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, Whiting.
