Antonio A. Afonso, 54, of Lakehurst, passed away Monday, December 15th. Mr. Afonso was born in Portugal and came to the United States in 1978. He lived in Jackson Township before moving to Lakehurst in 1990. Mr. Afonso was an electrician. He owned and operated Atlantic Electric in Lakehurst from 1990 to 2001. Prior to that, he worked for Coburn Corporation, Lakewood and ASARCO, Lakehurst. He was predeceased by his daughter, Nicole in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Diane Martone Afonso; his parents, Manuel and Anna Afonso of Portugal; one brother, Joseph Afonso and six sisters, Anna Afonso, Albina Furrow, Emily Afonso, Rose Santos, Lisa Afonso and Maria Afonso. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 11 to 11:45 a.m. Friday at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A funeral liturgy will follow at 12 noon, Friday from the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
