Benjamin Kopacz

Benjamin Kopacz, 99, of the Whiting section of Manchester passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 28, 2022. Born in Passaic, he lived in Garfield and Wayne before moving to Whiting in 1982. He was a graduate of St. Stan’s Parochial School and Garfield High School, Mr. Kopacz was a butcher for A&P in Butler, NJ, for over 30 years and previously worked as a bus driver for the Garfield-Passaic Transit Company. After retiring to Whiting, he worked as a coffee host at Wawa. He was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, Whiting, where her served as Eucharistic Minister and was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was predeceased by his wife Jane in 2006; his parents, Andrew and Caroline Kpacz; and by his sister, Josephine. He is survived by his nieces, Dee Pepper, Roberta Roper, and Denise Doyczack; his nephew Thomas Hudak and his wife Carlin; and his best friend and caretaker, Catherine Mellon and her family, Mike and Pattie Buschhoff, Barbara DeGeus, Elizabeth and Ed Ginnochio, and James Mellon and their respective families. Visitation will be Friday, April 1 from 3-6pm at the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, April 2 at 10:45am at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
