Harry Hartman

Harry Jacob Hartman, 71, of Crestwood Village VI, Whiting, MANCHESTER, passed away Monday, October 20, at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Mr. Hartman was born in Newark and lived in Maywood before moving to Whiting in 1999. He was a Sergeant with the Bergen County Sheriff's Department as a Forensic Technician. He was a US Army veteran during Peacetime. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and was a member of the church's Holy Name Society and Choir. He was Chief of the Safety Patrol of Village VI and was on their Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Crestwood Fishing Club, volunteered at Community Medical Center, Toms River and was a lifetime member of the Brewers Athletic Club. For 30 years he did ministry in the prison and for 12 years he coached Little League Sports. He was an avid Yankee fan and played Santa Claus for over 30 years for the entire community. Mr. Hartman was predeceased by his sister, Joan Roth in 2006. He is survived by his wife of 47 1/2 years, Rosalie; one son, Christopher of Summittville, NY; one daughter and son-in-law, Lora Anne and Dag Patton of Bayville; two grandchildren, Alison Patton and David Jacob Motiel and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Friday at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. in the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Donations in his memory may be made to the Whiting Food Bank.
