Joseph J. Moccio, 98, of Whiting passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 at his home in the Whiting section of Manchester Township. Born in Manhattan, he was a resident of Crestwood Village 6 since 1998. A US Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II, Mr. Moccio was employed by the New York City Transit Authority for 25 years before retiring in 1973. He later worked for the New York daily news for 15 years before retiring permanently in 1988. A parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, he was a former parishioner at Holy Family RC Church, Brooklyn. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St Pius X X Council, and the Holy Name Society. He served on the Safety Patrol, worked at Bingo, and played shuffleboard at Crestwood Village 6. Predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor, he is survived by his wife, Frances (Perulli) Moccio; his daughters, Marie Elena Rudnicki and her husband Edward of Long Island and Mary Ann Havens and her husband Larry of Whiting; his sons, Carmine Moccio and his wife Marion of Lansing, MI, Vincent Moccio and his wife Kathleen of Minneapolis, MN, and Vincent Russo of Port St. Lucie, FL; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Cremation was private and entrusted to Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:45am on Saturday, January 22 at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church.
