Rita F. Kavanagh, 86, of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Whiting Health Care Center. Rita was born in New York and lived in Queens, NY, Red Bank and Holmdel before moving to Whiting in 2009. She worked for Bulova Watches, Astoria, NY, for 10 years, retiring in 1985. She was predeceased by her husband, John in 1980 and her son, Joseph in 1982. She is survived by one daughter, Maureen A. Shand of Whiting, one sister, Jane Feehan of Hazlet; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday morning at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd, Whiting. A funeral liturgy will follow at 11 a.m., at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. For information, directions and condolences, go to manchestermemorial.net
