Alice H.
Waespy
May 27, 1936 — Jul 27, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Alice H. Waespy, 90, of Whiting, NJ passed away on the morning of July 27, 2026. Alice was born in Weehawken, NJ to parents Thomas and Mildred Harriot. She grew up in West New York and while living there, Alice met the love of her life, George, during a friendly gathering. The couple moved to Teaneck, NJ, where their family grew and they later decided to settle in Whiting in 2012.
For the duration of Alice's career she worked as an inventory manager for Computer Leasing Inc. in Hackensack, NJ. Alice was an active former member of the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards with her friends, traveling, or spending time with her family, whom she adored.
Six months ago, Alice had fallen and was injured so her daughter, Diane, made the selfless decision of moving in with her mother, while Alice was recovering. Spending more time with one another created a new, very special bond between Diane and Alice. They discovered new things about each other that broadened their relationship as mother and daughter. Diane was by Alice's side in her final moments, just as Alice had been by Diane's side at the beginning of her daughter's life. That full-circle bond made their time together especially meaningful and more precious.
Alice loved living in the Meadows, she adored the people who created her community and had a wonderful life while residing there. She will be deeply missed and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Alice is predeceased by her loving husband of sixty-three years, George (2023). She is survived by her children, Diane Waespy and Thomas (Robin) Waespy of Hawthorne, NJ; her grandchildren Anthony and Michael; her brother William (Carmen) Harriot of MD; and her nephews Christian and Lucien.
Cremation will be private.
