Obituary

Aurelio (Orie) J. Rizzolo, 101, of Manchester, New Jersey passed peacefully in his sleep at Lyons VA Medical Center on Friday, October 11, 2024. Funeral Services will begin on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 1 PM to 4 PM at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., in Whiting. There will also be a visitation at the funeral home on Monday morning, October 21, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Graveside service will follow at 11:30 AM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd.,. Arneytown, NJ 08562

Mr. Rizzolo was born in Newark, New Jersey to the late Raffaele and Rose Rizzolo. He was a decorated WWII 82nd Airborne Paratrooper jumping into Sainte Mere Eglise on D-Day. After his discharge, Aurelio worked at Westinghouse. Upon retirement, Mr. Rizzolo worked as a dealer at Resorts Casino in Atlantic City.

He is predeceased by his devoted wife Jean Rizzolo (Urbano), sons Peter and Mark Rizzolo, brothers Frank (Buck), Albert and Peter Rizzolo, and sister, Sarah Ciano. He is survived by his: daughter- in- laws Elizabeth Rizzolo and Barbara Schulmeister; grandchildren Peter Rizzolo and his wife Natalie, Mark Rizzolo Jr., Marc Rizzolo and his wife Yvette, Vincent Rizzolo and his wife Cathie, Adrianna Rizzolo, and partner David, Michael Rizzolo, and Victoria Rizzo and her husband David; great-grandchildren Nicolas Rizzolo, Vincent Rizzolo, Tatyana Rizzolo, Samantha Rizzolo, Veronica Rizzolo, and Dominic Rizzo; and many dear friends, including his best friend, Joseph Feola and his wife Jean.

Aurelio had a very strong will. He had unwavering determination and a positive

mindset that allowed him to achieve most of his goals. Those closest to Aurelio knew that he would do just about anything to get out of the house. Some of his hobbies were: playing cards; golfing; cooking/ baking; bowling; going to Atlantic City; visiting the Race Track; painting statues; dining out; car rides; and going to the bank.

Mr. Rizzolo had a wonderful sense of humor. His quick wit warranted him the

admiration he adored. Aurelio took great pride in his service in the 82nd Airborne and proudly wore his WWII hat with his jump wings and medals everywhere he went. He was often the center of attention and enjoyed sharing the unlimited stories of his past with others. He was a true extrovert at heart and lived life to the fullest.
