Obituary

Austin Kenny, age 84 of Bayville passed away at home on August 25, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born in Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, Ireland, he came to the United States in 1964, settling in Elizabeth. He lived there and in Iselin for many years before settling in Bayville in 1998.

Prior to his retirement in 2001, he was a High Tension Lineman for PSE&G, Elizabeth, for 37 years. A parishioner of Saint Barnabas RC Church, Bayville, Mr. Kenny was a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, and enjoyed boating and spending time on the Barnegat Bay with his family. He coached his children's sports teams and played rugby in his younger days in Ireland. He enjoyed fishing and camping, but more than anything spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially during the holidays. He was a Friend of Bill W. for the past 37 years, and was a longtime fan of Manchester United Soccer, the New York Mets and Jets, the Boston Celtics, and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.

He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Nora (Bange) Kenny; his grandson, Sean Kenny; and his sisters, Marie Mahoney and Kathleen Kenny. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marie (Farrington) Kenny; his children and their spouses, Patricia and her husband Glynn Dubil of Bayville, Austin Kenny and his wife Debbie of Columbia, SC, and James and his wife Elo of Metuchen; his grandchildren, Krystle Bernknopf and her husband

Steve, Joseph Piccolella and his wife Ashley, Shannon Dubil, Glynn Michael Dubil, Jennifer Bosley and her husband Max, Austin Kenny, Lisa Kenny and Brett Kenny; his great-grandchildren, Savannah, Lucas, Nora, Sammy, Hudson, and Brielle; his brother, James Kenny, and his wife Nancy; and his nieces and nephews, Eileen Velez, Noreen Mahoney, Marie Kirk, Erin West, and Brendan, Ryan, and Tommy Kenny.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, August 30, 2024, at St. Barnabas RC Church, 33 Woodland Road, Bayville. Cremation and interment of cremains will be private.
