Bernadine McDermott of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010. A Memorial Service will be held at 12 noon, Monday, Aug. 23, 2010 at the Whiting United Methodist Church, 55 Lacey Road, Whiting. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Born in Ballyhaunis, Ireland, Mrs. McDermott lived in Bloomfield, NJ before moving to Whiting 10 years ago. She was an active member of the congregation of Whiting United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her first husband, Victor Cook and sisters, Belinda Bowen, Christina Elwood and Greta Weafer. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 36 years, Peter J. McDermott; daughter, Cynthia Dann and her husband, James of Frankford Township, NJ; grandsons, Michael Dann of Frankford, NJ and Joseph Dann of Volo, IL. She is also survived by sisters, Lillian Doherty of Lake Hiawatha, NJ and Vera Waldron of Ballyhaunis, Ireland and numerous nephews and nieces, both, in the US and Ireland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bernadine to the American Cancer Society or Pancreatic Cancer. Arrangements are under the direction of Aaron Cremation Associates, Inc., Whiting.
