Obituary

Carl Laursen, 90, of Whiting, passed away on July 28, 2025. Carl was born on February 14, 1935, in Matawan, NJ, to his parents, Wallace and Irene Laursen. He served in the Air Force for six years before marrying his beloved wife, Patricia, in 1964. Shortly after their marriage, they bought a house in Port Monmouth. In 1968, the Laursens moved to Leonardo, where they lived until settling in Whiting in 2012.

For most of his career, Carl worked as a communication repairer at Fort Monmouth. Carl was an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts, Troop 47, while he lived in Leonardo. He was an avid stamp and coin collector as well as a lifetime NY Yankees fan.

Carl is predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia. He is survived by his four children; Deborah and her husband William Hettmann, Brian Laursen, Eric Laursen, and Christopher Laursen; and his four grandchildren; Rachel and William Hettmann, Nathaniel and Audrey Laursen.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, located at 28 Schoolhouse Road in Whiting. There will be a service on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery in Tennent.
