Carol "Al" Haligowski, age 94 of Whiting died Friday July 22, 2011 at Van Dyke Hospice, Toms River. Born in Elizabeth, he lived there and in Linden before moving to Whiting in 1980. Al worked for Phelps Dodge in Linden for 38 years retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Polish American Club of Whiting and a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, Whiting. Al was predeceased by his granddaughter Laura in 2006. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Tessie; his daughter Irene and her husband Ed Conway of Farmingdale, NJ; a grandson Joseph and his wife Kimberly Conway and a granddaughter Kathleen Conway and 3 great grandchildren. Viewing will be on Monday July 25, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Tuesday, July 26, at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Entombment will follow in the Rosedale Cemetery Mausoleum, Linden, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deborah Heart and Lung Center.
