Obituary

Cathleen Elizabeth MacCotter passed away in the comfort of her home on November 27, 2025. Cathleen was born on April 1, 1936 as the daughter of Arthur and Anna Sandford. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, her son Marc and grandson Patrick. Cathleen is survived by her children - Tamara, Sean, Anna Lorene and Colleen, along with, 6 grand and 10 great-grandchildren.

Cathleen was best known as "Kay" by those who knew her. Kay graduated from Trenton Central High School and subsequently attended Virginia Intermont College where she studied Health and Physical Education with a passion to teach dance. As a young woman she worked the fashion industry in New York City both modeling and dancing. Kay later married, had a family and was a loving wife, mother, nanny, grandmom, great grandmother, Aunt Kay and friend. Her most notable passion and highlight in her life were her kids. She absolutely fulfilled her purpose in life and loved her kids beyond words. Kay was independent, with a strong work ethic, and secured a position with the State of New Jersey where she retired after 20+ years of service.

Mom was a strong and independent role model to her dedicated family. Although it is impossible to describe all of her best traits, here are a few more that come to mind: fair, honorable, classy, caring, compassionate, sensitive and a great listener with a witty sense of humor. She was a resilient, courageous and humble person, always rising above tragedy, struggles and obstacles. Kay practiced patience, kindness and

forgiveness which taught all of us LOVE. She treasured time with her family and friends. Her Hobbies included theater, dancing, reading, travel and spending time "down the shore". Kay was a devout member of the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton congregation where she participated as a member of the choir. Kay will always be an inspiration to her family and friends and remain in our hearts forever.

As Mom would say - "I love you, Bye for Now"
