Christian C. Scherer, 63, of Toms River, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Manchester and Jackson before moving to Toms River in 1995. Christian was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Freehold. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a communicant of St. Justin's Church, Toms River. He was predeceased by his sister, Veronica Casaletto in 2007. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beverly (nee Spoon); two sons, Jonathan of Whiting and Brian of Watchung; his mother, Mary T. Scherer of Berlin, NJ; two sisters, Shirley Sullivan of Manahawkin and Donna Sullivan of Williamstown and one granddaughter, Heather Sherer. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 6th at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. A funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 7th at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
