Daniel Eugene Comer, Sr., age 87, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, in Whiting, New Jersey, surrounded by his loving wife, son, and daughter.

Born in Sidney, Ohio, Daniel was a force of nature from the very beginning — full of energy, curiosity, and a love for the outdoors. Whether he was hunting in the woods, out on a boat at sea, or building something with his hands, he was happiest when he was moving, exploring, or laughing. That same spirit stayed with him for all of his 87 years.

At just 17, Daniel proudly enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country with honor and pride, and the discipline, commitment, and camaraderie he found during his years in the military shaped the man he would become. But beyond service and hard work, Daniel's life was defined by the love he gave to others — endlessly, freely, and without hesitation.

To know him was to be on the receiving end of kindness, often unsolicited, always genuine. He was joyful, a little wild, endlessly generous, and had a rebel streak that made him unforgettable. Whether you called him Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, or Friend, you knew you were loved.

Daniel is survived by his lifelong partner of 35+ years Flora Viggiano; his children, Daniel Comer, Jr. (Darci) and Robin Guertin; his grandchildren, Patricia, Brittany, Anthony, and Drew; and his great-grandchildren, Kaeden, Harley, Victoria, and Anthony. He is also survived by his brother, Robert H. Comer, Jr., and many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Comer; his brother, Phillip Comer; his uncle, Miles Walburn; and his beloved parents, Robert H. Comer, Sr., and June Comer.

He brought us laughter that lifted our spirits, strength that grounded us, and a love that never wavered. His warmth, wisdom, and kindness will live on in our hearts and memories. We will carry his legacy with us, always.

The funeral service will take place at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home on August 18, 2025. We ask guests to arrive at 10:30 AM. Following the service, Taps will be performed at 12:00 PM in honor of Daniel's military service.
