Dawn Frances
Wiedow
June 21, 1966 – January 29, 2025
Dawn Frances Wiedow, 58, passed away on January 29, 2025. Born on June 21, 1966, in Bayonne, NJ to parents, Kenneth and Heather Wiedow. She grew up in Bayonne and lived in Chester for many years before settling in Whippany, NJ.
Dawn was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Heather Wiedow. She is lovingly survived by her 4 sisters, Donna Matuch and Michael of Fayetteville, PA; Debra Wiedow of Lanoka Harbor, NJ; Doreen Mitchell and Steven of Bayville, NJ and Darleen McGlaughlin and Don, of Ocean Gate, NJ. She is also survived by. Nephew Captain Zachary Matuch, U.S. Army. She is also survived by Aunts, Uncles and Cousins that loved her. Finally she leaves behind her Canine companion Romeo.
Those that knew Dawn, knew the type of person she was: kind, compassionate, loving and extremely thoughtful of others. Always lending a helping hand and gave her input where needed.
Dawn was a graduate of Bayonne High School Class of 1984. She was active in the Marching band and Drum Corp. She also attended vocational school for Dental Assistant where she earned her license.
Dawn worked as a Dental Assistant at Bayonne Dental Associates for over 15 years before moving to Chester. She worked for many years in the Floram Park to Hudson County area Per Diem. Dawn was an exceptional Dental Assistant. Dawn had also served as an instructor for the Dawson Academy NorthEast.
One of her many talents and licenses, Dawn held was her EMT-B license. We are honored and privileged to say that our sister was a LIFE member of the Chester First Aid Squad for over 10 years. She always loved serving the community in which she lived. She made numerous good friends and family throughout the First Aid Squad.
Another one of Dawn passions was Ballooning. Whether it was Hot Air Ballooning, working as the land crew for friends or the Quick Chek Festival of Ballooning in Readington, NJ every year. Mostly Dawn's Passion was the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as one of their Balloon pilots. For over the past 10 years, she was the Handler for Julius the Sock (2 years). She then became a Pilot-B for the following ballon's though the years: Candy Cane Red, Harold the Fireman, Rex the Happy Dragon (2 years), Arrtle the Pirate, Nutcracker, Bjorn (Netflix), Macy's Band, Boss Baby and Kung Fu Panda. Our beloved sister Dawn loved this time of year meeting all the new handlers and being able to work with the Macy's Parade staff. This was an experience of a life time.
Dawn had a passion of traveling to many vast place in what ever means available whether it be by land or by sea . She would often visit her family in Bermuda and her more memorial event visits were to Canada, London and Ireland.
In memory of Dawn's passing in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chester First Aid Squad or St. Hubert's Animal Welfare in her memory.
