Dorothy Alessi, 84, of Whiting, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Crestwood Manor Healthcare Center in Whiting. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, she lived in Hopelawn before moving to Whiting three years ago. She was a waitress in Perth Amboy. Dorothy was a loving wife and mother. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Carmen Carl Alessi in 1992; two sisters, Betty Harell and Tess Karbiner and one son-in-law, Steven Kertesz. She is survived by six children, Carmen Alessi and his wife, Linda, Theresa Ford and her husband, Bob, Catherine Alessi, Victoria Sing and her husband, Jim, Patricia Kertesz and her companion, Lambert Rosado and Dorothy Vargo and her husband, Steve; one sister, Lillian Ryan; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. A private family viewing will be held Wednesday, March 19th from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Friends are invited to visit from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., that day. A funeral service will be held at 11:45 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
