Dorothy A. (Bowes) McCredie, 86, of Whiting, NJ passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021. Born in the Bronx, she lived there until moving to NJ in the 1960s and then spent most of her retirement years in Whiting. Dorothy was a beloved mother and homemaker. She was always very active in her Church community beginning in the Bronx when she became a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. Dorothy was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Whiting and also a member of the Catholic Charismatic Organization of St. Aloysius Church in Jackson. Her spiritual life was very important to her as evidenced by her also being a member of the Marion Movement of Priests and Our Lady's Missionaries of the Eucharist. She said she always tried to keep "one foot in heaven and one foot on earth"! She is survived by her six children, Catherine Wilklow of Highland, NY, Theresa Towle and partner, Peachy of Newton, NH, Susan Schwarz and husband, Randy of Saddle Brook, NJ, Robert McCredie and wife, Charla of Parachute, CO, Michael McCredie of Ashland, MA and Jeanne McCredie of Thornton, NH. She had 12 grandchildren, Emily, Tara, Kate, Katelyn, Kyle, Evan, Jenna, Jared, Sasha, Joey, Brandon and Jenny and 12 great-grandchildren. On Friday, March 19th, Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting followed by a Catholic Mass offered at 10:45 at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
