Dorothy O'Brien, 87, of Whiting, passed away on Sunday, January 25, at Van Dyke Hospice, Toms River. Born and raised in Newark, and resided in Irvington before moving to Whiting in 1988. She worked for the VA Hospital in East Orange, before retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Dorothy was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1965 and her daughter, Regina Schiavo in 2004. She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Sandy and two grandchildren Jason and Kristin O'Brien. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, January 28, at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home 28 Schoolhouse Rd, Whiting.
