Dr. David Andrews of Upper Montclair Montclair, New Jersey passed away peacefully on September 10,
2022 at Crestwood Senior Living in Whiting, New Jersey, he was 94 years old.
Born in London, Dr. Andrews attended the University of London and graduated with a PhD in Organic
Chemistry at the age of 21. He then went on to join the Royal Navy where he served 7 years obtaining
the rank of Lieutenant. While in the Royal Navy he met his wife Joan who was serving in the Women's
Royal Service. They were married in 1957 in Hawkesbury Canada and later settled in Upper Montclair
where they raised their three children. Dr. Andrews was an active member in both the American
Chemical Society (66 years) and the Royal Chemical Society. He worked on several groundbreaking
projects and held several patents for his work. He loved a good laugh, listening to Opera and watching
the English Premier League, especially Chelsea. Dr. Andrews wanted the American Dream for his
children, but his heart was always across the pond. He was a proud British Subject and on his behalf, we
say, "God Save the King".
Dr. Andrews was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Joan Andrews (Carline). He is survived by his
three children, Fiona Collins (Ned), Nigel Andrews (Kelly) and Celia Griffith (David) and his three beloved
grandchildren, Rachel Andrews, Zachary Andrews, and Matthew Collins. He is also survived by a large
extended family in England, Australia, Canada, and France.
