Eileen C. McDermott, 90, of Whiting, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 at home. Born and raised in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY, she live in Ridgewood, NY before moving to Whiting in 1984. Eileen attended St. Cecilia's Grammar School and Bishop McDonald Memorial High School. She was a member of the Irish American Club, a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and a member of the church's Altar Rosary Society. She was passionate about traveling and visited 71 countries. Eileen was predeceased by her first husband, Robert H. McDermott in 1973. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Jerome; two sons, Robert McDermott and Timothy McDermott; two daughters, Mary Blanchard and Jane Walsh; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 25th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 26th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
