It is with heavy hearts that the family of Elaine Bean, 83, Whiting, announce her passing on Tuesday night at home with loved ones by her side.
Elaine was born to Michael and Esther (Sterner) Roth, the eldest of five children. She grew up in Bronx, NY and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1959.
She had three children from her first marriage to which she was a loving mother. They lived in the mountains of Asheville, NC and then Toms River, NJ.
She worked at Best Products and Macy's as a Fine Jewelry salesperson.
In 1987, she married a second time to Jack Bean. They moved to Tuckerton where they lived on the water and enjoyed boating and fishing. They also enjoyed many Caribbean vacations, cruises and travels to Ireland, Italy and Mexico.
Elaine worked for many years as an Executive secretary at Viking Yachts in New Gretna. After retiring, she moved to Whiting and became a member of the choir at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She enjoyed playing Mahjong and Rummikub with her dear circle of friends.
She adored her faithful companion and fur baby Coby, who also adored her.
She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Donna Cross in 2003 and a sister Susan Fontana in 2024.
Elaine is survived by her loving partner Jack Bean, her daughter Denise May and husband Keith, her son Thomas Gillissie and wife Jacki, stepson Corey Clacher and wife Dianna.
She was blessed with six grandchildren, Jennifer, Chris, Garrett, Justin, Cassie and Alyssa, plus nine great-grandchildren, with a tenth one due in August.
She also leaves behind two sisters, Jayne Young and husband Manuel and a brother Michael Roth and wife Theresa.
Viewings will be held at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd, Whiting on Sunday, May 4th from 2-4 pm and again on Monday, May 5th from 9-10:30 am.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:45 am on Monday, May 5th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Rd, Whiting, NJ 08759.
