Elizabeth Matheis, 93, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the Pines at Whiting. Born in Hungary, she was raised in Canada before moving to the United States. She worked in Textiles and Banking. Elizabeth moved to Bogota, NJ and raised four children. She and her husband, Henry, retired to Crestwood Village 3 in Whiting, NJ. Elizabeth was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Whiting. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Henry C. Matheis, Sr. in 1999, her daughter, Diana Lynn Bartenhagen Bonuso in 1993 and her to brothers, Joseph and Louis Kranich. She is survived by her son, Henry C. Matheis, Jr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Liz and Robert Friedhoff and Roe and Richard Powell; her grandchildren, Krysta and Erika Matheis, Robert Henry Friedhoff and his wife, Jennifer, and Dawn, Dan and Bryan Powell and one great-grandson, Donovan Friedhoff. Visitation will be Saturday, June 4th from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Park, Clifton, NJ.
