Eugene J. Getz, 88, of Whiting, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2014 at AristaCare at Whiting. Born in Trenton, he lived in Hamilton Twp. and North Hanover Twp. before moving to Whiting 4 years ago. Eugene and his father started their own plumbing business, Getz Plumbing & Heating, Hamilton, NJ, over 60 years ago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and participated in the Invasion of Normandy in June 1944 where he received 7 distinguished medals for his service. He was a lifelong member of the V.F.W., Post 3525, Hamilton Twp and a former member of the American Legion, Post 314, Ewing. He also was a lead guitar player. Eugene was predeceased by his daughter, Sandy King in 2007, his step-son, Laurence Moore in 2007, his sister, Virginia Combs and one great-grandchild. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Judy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tawny and Michael Suchowierski of Spring City, PA and Jeanette Paul and Greg of Wrightstown; one nephew, Herbert Combs and his wife; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21st at the Whiting United Methodist Church, 55 Lacey Rd., Whiting. Arrangements are under the direction of Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, Whiting.
