Evelyn P. McElroy, of Crestwood Village IV, Whiting, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Arbors Care Center in Manchester. Evelyn was born and raised in Newark and moved to Whiting in 1979. She was a legal secretary for Judge John J. Gibbons of the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, Newark, for many years. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Evelyn was predeceased by her sisters, Anne and Mae and her brothers, Joseph and Mac. She is survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9th, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept 10th, at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at Whiting Memorial Park. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Antoninus R.C. Church, 337 S. Orange Ave., Newark, NJ 07103.
