Black, Florence Ruth ,103, of Whiting, New Jersey and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away September 29, 2025. Born in Montville, New Jersey May 21st,1922. She was a dedicated worker at Drew Chemical, Boonton, New Jersey as their payroll supervisor for 34 years. She loved her job and loved numbers
her whole life. She remembered all the birthdates of all of her nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews along with a vivid recall of key historical events!
In her free time she poured herself into many different endeavors to keep her mind sharp....Jigsaw puzzles, word finds, books, crocheting, cooking, music, shows, luncheons, weddings, birthdays, trips, cruises and church! She loved being included in family gatherings. She was always open to try new things, loved getting her hair and nails done! She loved matching her outfits right down to her socks and sneakers! At 103 she still loved Bingo! She loved playing cards and was a tough opponent!
Quiet and thoughtful, patient and kind sometimes her eyes would crinkle up and she'd chuckle. She quietly shared in the lives around her .
Florence was predeceased by Lloyd Black her husband; her siblings Shirley Margaret Ritchie, Virginia McGeghan, and Richard McGeghan. Her extended family Charles Bernard Ritchie, Andrew and Patricia Ritchie, Samuel and Mary Margaret Ritchie, James and Terry Ritchie.
She is survived by her nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grandnephews and great grands! Forever she will be in their hearts!
Visitation will be at the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home Monday October 6, 2025 9:00-10:30. A service will follow immediately at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church located at 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting NJ. Burial will immediately follow at Brigadier General William C, Doyle Memorial Cemetery 350 Province Line Road Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
