Obituary

Francis "Frank" J. Streibig, Jr. 68, of Whiting, NJ, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2024. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he resided in Belmar in his young adulthood before raising a family in Silverton and then moving to Whiting.

A warm soul and earnest listener, Frank was a valued member of every community he was part of. He made his living largely in people-facing roles at local businesses, including Sandler & Worth and WRAT radio, where he met and made friends with people from all walks of life.

As scoutmaster of Troop 59 out of Silverton Firehouse, he taught his sons and young men from across Toms River to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. Many of his scouts will never forget the canoe trip he led down the Delaware River in a rainstorm.

A devout parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Frank dedicated much of his life to carrying out the work of the Lord. He brought God's Word to parishioners of all ages, teaching CCD at St. Luke's for 10 years and more recently leading weekly prayer groups including the Divine Mercy Chaplet prayer group and Seven Sorrows prayer group at SEAS Parish. He was an admired member of a peaceful pro-life movement and recently became a Third Order Secular Franciscan.

He enjoyed learning about American history through his avid reading habit and keeping a watchful eye on the deer and hummingbird populations of Whiting from his porch.

Frank is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Catherine. He is survived by his son Nicholas and his wife Nicole, his son David and his wife Amanda, his sons Paul and Joseph; his sister Patricia and her husband Michael; his grandchildren Jaxon, Noah and Nevaeh; his uncle Joseph Maiorana and his wife Rosemarie; nieces and nephews; and many brothers and sisters in Christ. A self-proclaimed proud Cat Dad, he is also survived by Reeses, Cali and Oliver. Though he is now at home with the Lord, he is loved on Earth forever and will be missed by many.

A viewing will be held on Friday January 19th, 2024 from 4-7pm at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home 28 Schoolhouse Road Whiting, NJ 08759.
