Gerard Thomas Simonelli, AKA "The Count", age 82 passed away in his sleep at Complete Care Of Whiting on January 22, 2022. Born in Brooklyn, NY, where he lived until retiring and moving his family to Manchester in 1995.
Gerard was a Structural Steel Engineer in New York City and was involved in many large projects including the building of The World Trade Center, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Pace University and numerous power plants such as the former Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant. Gerard also took great pride in working on the original Ball that falls on New Years Eve.
He was predeceased by his wife Jane Sterling Simonelli and his son Gerry. Gerard is survived by his brother Robert Simonelli of South Carolina and 3 children Thomas Simonelli of Lakewood, NJ; Richard Simonelli of Bokeelia, Fl; Susan Coriaty of Florida, NY and numerous grandchildren.
He is being cremated and no Memorial service is planned at this time.
