German "Herman" Rodriguez, 79, of Whiting, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of November 18, 2025. Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to his parents Bienvenido and Aleja Rodriguez, he later made his lifelong home in Whiting, where he built a life rooted in simplicity.

Those who knew Herman will remember him as someone who was always ready to help, whether it was fixing something or lending a hand. He loved being outdoors, tinkering with anything he could repair, and relaxing on his porch while waving to everyone who passed by, whether he knew them or not. He enjoyed watching birds and going for rides at Whitesbog to see sunsets, spot wildlife, and listen to live music. He also loved to crack jokes, even if he was the only one who understood them, which made you kinda laugh anyway. He found comfort in the simple pleasures of life, especially listening to Yacht Rock Radio and spending time at home, the place he loved most.

Herman worked for many years as a maintenance mechanic at the Beverly National Cemetery in Edgewater Park, NJ, where he took great pride in caring for the grounds and doing his work with skill and dedication.

He is survived by his daughters, Aleja Estronza and Sonia Matura; his grandchildren, Victoria Estronza, Armand Rodriguez, Joseph Horton, Timothy Horton, and Andrew Matura; and his great-grandchild, Eevee Rodriguez.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting, NJ.
