HELEN A. SPEER AGE: 93 * WHITING Helen A. Speer, 93, of Whiting, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 at Whiting Health Care Center in Manchester. Born in Newark, Helen lived in East Orange before moving to Whiting in 1979. She was a graduate of Drake College of Business in Newark and worked as a secretary for Pantages, Sellars & Zavesky Law Office, Newark for 12 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Sons of Poland, Carlstadt and a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Allen T. Speer in 1993. She is survived by two nephews, Walter Paleczny, Robert Paleczny and one niece, Carol Hanley. Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26 at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. A funeral service will follow at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange.
