Joan Palmieri, 90, of Whiting, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 in Cranford, NJ. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, she lived in Roselle where she raised her five sons with her first husband, Joseph Collins. She was a nurse at St. Elizabeth Hospital for over 20 years before retiring and moving to Crestwood Village in Whiting in 1997. She was also a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.

Joan was a member of the Village VII Resident's Club and Bingo Committee. As a member of the Whiting community, she generously volunteered her time towards many activities for the seniors, but especially loved teaching line dancing. Joan was also an avid traveler and enjoyed traveling with her first husband, Joseph Collins, followed by her second husband, Thomas Palmieri.

Joan was predeceased by her first husband of 52 years, Joseph Collins, her second husband of 7 years, Thomas Palmieri, her sons, Robert and Michael Collins, her sister, Ruth Darrar, and her brother, Ronald Doherty.

Joan is survived by her three sons, Joseph Collins & wife Hanan, Jeffrey Collins & wife Salwa, and John Collins, her sister, Eileen Venezio, two brothers, David & Patrick Doherty, her 6 grandchildren, Joseph Collins, Suzanne Blackler, Jeanette Collins, Catherine McPherson, James Steven Collins, & Matthew Thomas Collins, and her 5 great grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be offered on Tuesday, June 6th at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 30 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Inurnment will follow at the All Saints Chapel.
