John was called home by his precious Savior Jesus Christ on November 3rd. Born, on June 11, 1936, and raised in Union City, he lived in Ridgefield Park for 47 years with his wife Harriet, who predeceased him. He moved to Whiting in 2011 where he met and married Janice Thomas-Knecht in 2012. His life at The Pines at Whiting was filled with many friends and happy times. John was loved by all who knew him.

John proudly served in the U.S. Army after graduating from Union Hill High School. Using his GI bill and working various jobs, he graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University with a degree in accounting. He worked as an auditor for the Defense Contract Auditing Agency for 35 years until his retirement. For most of his life, he was active in the Assembly of God church. In his later years, he enjoyed attending the Whiting Assembly of God and Whiting United Methodist Church. His life was a testimony of God's grace and goodness. We will miss him but know he is now rejoicing with his loved ones and friends who had gone to Heaven before him.

He is survived by his wife Jan, her daughters Wendy(Larry) and Patty(Brian) and families, son John(Lynnette), daughter Doris(Paul), and granddaughters Lauren and Allison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Whiting Assembly of God Church or The Colony at Keswick.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 12 from 2-5 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home. Service will be held on Monday, November 13, at 11:30, with interment at 1 p.m. at BG WC Doyle Mem. Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
