John P. Vitale, 94, of Whiting and Arlington, VA, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Cherrydale Health & Rehabilitation Center in Arlington, VA. Born in New York City, NY, he lived in Lodi, NJ before moving to Whiting in 1987. John was a furniture salesman for Huffman Koos Furniture Company in Hackensack, NJ for more than 30 years before retiring. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the V.F.W. in Whiting. He was a member of the Residents Club of Crestwood Village 7 and a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. John is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Eva Vitale; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Linda Vitale of Arlington, VA; one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Molly Vitale of Massapequa, NY; four grandchildren, Staci, Jolyn, Christina and Jeffrey and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 29th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 30th at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown.
