JOSEPH B. McDERMOTT AGE: 88 * WHITING Joseph B. McDermott, 88, of Whiting, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015 at home. Born in Irvington, he lived in Kearny for 25 years and the Poconos and Stroudsburg, PA for 15 years before moving to Whiting in 2005. Joseph served in the United States Navy Pacific Theater Construction Brigade during WW II. He owned, operated and was the salesman of his own stationary store in Kearny and Newark. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Joseph was predeceased by his son, Edward B. McDermott in 1987 and his sister, Marie Alterizio. He is survived by his beloved wife, Greta McDermott; one son, Joseph P. McDermott of Reading, PA; one sister, Margaret Delorme; six nieces, Kathy, Donna, Margaret, Nadine, Laura and Donna; two nephews, Patrick and Robert; his cousin Irene and two grandchildren, Nicole Ace and Ryan McDermott and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 27th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28th at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C.
