Obituary

Joseph V. Walsh, 89, of Whiting, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the home of his daughter in Wayne, PA. Born in Hackensack, he lived in Teaneck before moving to Whiting in 1980. Joseph was a self-employed manufacturer's representative for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served with the 511th Parachute Infantry of the 11th Airborne Division. He served in the Asiatic Pacific and the Philippines and was a member of General Douglas Mac Arthur's Honor Guard in Japan. Joseph was a member of the T.R.O.C. Chamber of Commerce, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Toms River, the Serra Club, the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society in Teaneck and a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene in 2010; his brother, Francis Walsh in 1999 and his grandson, Kyle Walsh in 2007. Surviving are his son, Dennis Walsh and his wife, Mary of Lodi, NJ; his daughter Stacy Bjorhus of Wayne, PA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Relatives and friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 9th at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:45 a.m., at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at Brig. Gen. William C.
