Josephine S. Volpe, 89, of Whiting, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2013 at home. Born in Manhattan, NY, she lived in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY before moving to whiting in 1989. Josephine was a secretary for the U.S. Department of Navy. She was a member of the Crestwood Village 5 Ceramics Club and the Italia American Club of whiting. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hainesport, NJ. Josephine was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Dominick Volpe in 2002. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara M. Simpson and her husband, Wayne of Lumberton, NJ and Dr. MaryAnn Volpe and her husband, Dr. Edwin Trayner of Newton, MA; one sister, Mary Vozzo and four grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 17th, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hainesport, NJ. Interment will follow at Mount Holly Cemetery.
