Katharyn Major, 98, of Pine Ridge at Crestwood, Whiting, Manchester, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at home. Mrs. Major was born in Brooklyn, NY, where she lived until moving to Whiting in 1980. She was very active in her Pine Ridge community, where she was a member of the Residents Club and Busy Bees. She loved knitting, crocheting and taking the bus to the supermarket. She was a New York Yankees fan. She enjoyed keeping in touch with her family through notes and letters. She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. She is survived by many caring relatives who will miss her dearly. Relatives and friends may call from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A funeral liturgy will follow at 12 noon in the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be in Whiting Memorial Park, Whiting.
