Kitty Louise Rothman, 93, of Whiting, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. She was born in Ambridge, PA to the late William and Katherine Carrodus. Kitty grew up in Masury, Ohio where she was a majorette in high school. She lived in New York City for many years before moving to Toms River, NJ. She worked as a showgirl and model in NYC, known under the stage name "Kitty Carr." Kitty was a regular on NBC's Texaco Star Theater with host Milton Berle, and performed at Jack Silverman's Old Romanian night club. Standing 6'1" in stocking feet, she was known as the tallest showgirl in New York. Her modeling career included Singer Sewing and Crosley Cars. Mrs. Rothman loved to sew and created many of her own custumes, clothing, dolls, gifts, and crafts. Kitty loved to cook and had an extensive collection of recipes and cookbooks. She was active in charitable fundraising as a member of the Jesterettes and the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Rothman was predeceased by her loving husband, Irving Rothman, a musician with the Henry Jerome Band, who died in 1995. Surviving is her son, Thomas Hardman of Manchester, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many dear friends A graveside gathering will be held Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Brig. General William C Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
