Lawrence Mangan, 89, of the Whiting section of Manchester Township passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at home. Born in Bronx, NY, he lived in Ridgefield for many years and briefly in Howell before settling in Whiting in 2004.

Mr. Mangan was a Structural Steel Inspector for the NY Transit Authority prior to retiring in 1999. Prior to that, he was a foreman for the Ironworkers Union in the Bronx for many years. His highest priorities were his family and his faith. He was a parishioner at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, Whiting, and was a member of the Our Lady of the Pines Knights of Columbus. He loved watching sports, particularly the Mets, Rangers, and Giants, but above all any game his grandchildren were playing in.

Mr. Mangan was predeceased by his daughter, Christine, and by his siblings, Mary Mitchell, John Mangan, Catherine Pendergast, and Betty Rodda. He is survived by his children, Lawrence Jr, Mary Jo, and John and his wife Regina; his grandchildren, Lawrence, Aidan, and John Jr.; and by his brother Bill Mangan.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 6-9 pm and on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 9-10:15am at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:45am on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at the All Saints Chapel of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church. Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
