Louis A. Alfonso, 67, of Whiting, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Parlin and Toms River before moving to Whiting 35 years ago. Louis was the owner of J&L Carpet in Whiting for 27 years. He was a member of the Park, Rod and Gun Club in Manchester, the Berkeley Stripers Club and the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Eileen; one brother, Gabriel of Whiting; one sister, Eleanor of Florida and one grandson, Louis Simpson. Relatives and friend may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19 and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 20, at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
