Obituary

Louis J. Cunningham, 82, passed away on Thursday, March 30th, surrounded by his family in his home in Whiting, NJ. Born in Stapleton, NY, Louis married Ann Flynn in St. Patrick's Church, Richmond Town, NY. They were happily married for 59 years. They raised 5 children in Annadale, NY and relocated to Whiting, NJ. In his early years Louis was an avid baseball player, playing for the Tompkinsville Blue Jays and New Dorp High School. Upon graduation from NDHS, Louis served in the United States Marine Corps from 1953 to 1956. Louis was employed by New York Telephone for 35 years. His favorite hobby was woodworking, providing each family member and his grandchildren with various fine, finished furniture. He also loved his many trips to Manchester, Vermont with his children and grandchildren. Louis was predeceased by his wife, Ann Cunningham and his sister, Isabelle Miller. He is survived by his 5 children, Louis Cunningham (Diana Cunningham), Linda Pirot (James Pirot), Kathleen Fiore (Ed Fiore), Susan Cunningham (John Oddo), Teresa Barr (Andrew Barr); 9 grandchildren, James, Jessica, Amanda, Edward, Jane, Louis, Robert, Thomas and Matthew; 5 great grandchildren, and his sister, Doris Bosco. Visitation will be Monday, April 3rd from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, April 4th at 10:45 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
