Marjorie P. Schmidt, 77, of Whiting, passed away Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in the Bronx, NY, she lived in Sayreville, NJ before moving to Whiting 12 years ago. She was a bank teller. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed playing canasta with her friends. Marjorie was a member of the Lakehurst Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased by her son, Stephen Schmidt in 2011. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald G. Schmidt; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Donald Katona of Albrightsville, PA and Lori and John Zakrzewski of Sayreville; one sister, Lynne Born of Little Egg Harbor; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be Monday, September 24th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A funeral service by Pastor Christina Hindley will be held Tuesday, Sept 25th at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Lung Association of N.J., 1600 Route 22 East, Union, NJ 07083.
