Mary C. Phelan, 97, of Whiting, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Crestwood Manor in Whiting. Born in New York City, NY, she lived in Queens and Hastings on the Hudson, NY before moving to Whiting in 1984. Mary was a corporate secretary and broker for Harcros, Inc. in New York City for 42 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the American Irish Club of Whiting, a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting and a member of the church's Altar Rosary Society, Rosary Makers and Food Drive. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, James P. Phelan in 2004, her sister, Anne McEnroy and her brother, Brian McEnroy. She is survived by two nieces, Eileen Casalaspro and Kathleen Franklin. Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 9th from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 9:00 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will be at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
