Michael A. Marchitto, 95, of Whiting, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born in Jersey City, he lived there until he moved to Whiting in 1993. Michael was a mechanic for the Kearny Post Office, Kearny, NJ for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He was a U.S. Army veteran during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Michael was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Madeline in May 2014 and his son, Thomas in 1996. He is survived by his daughter, Josephine Marchitto of Whiting; his sister, Josephine Tempio of Whiting and one grandson, Michael. Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 17th from 2 to 7 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Monday, Aug. 18th at 9 a.m. at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908, would be greatly appreciated.
