Noel George Thomas, 79, of Whiting, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at Whiting Healthcare Center. Born in Jenkins Twp., PA, he lived in North Brunswick before moving to Whiting in 2004. Noel played professional football in the early 1960's. He was a Linebacker for the NY Titans and Jets. He then worked as a field manager and supervisor for Maersk Shipping Company in Port Newark. Noel was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Marine Corps League, John Basilone Detachment in Fords, NJ. He was a member of the Chestnut Hill Field Archers in Morgantown, PA, the Penn-Dutch Sportsmen in New Holland, PA, Life Member of the State Field Archery Association of NJ and Life member of the National Field Archery Association in CA. He was the NJ State Archery Champion 3 years in a row. Noel is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dolores Quarto-Thomas; two sons, Noel of Edison and Eric of Woodbridge and two grandsons, Noel and Dylan. Visitation will be Monday, Sept. 10th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Rd., Whiting. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen William C. Doyle Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Donations in Noel's memory to the Disabled American Veterans would be appreciated.
