Owen O'Brien, 86, of Whiting, Crestwood Village I, passed away on Monday, July 27, at home. Born in Ireland, and resided in Iselin, before moving to Whiting in 1988. He was a member of the American-Irish Club of Whiting, the Hibernian of Toms River, and the Village I Residents Club. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Whiting, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and was an usher. Mr. O'Brien was predeceased by his son Daniel in 1990. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Mary; sons, Owen and his wife Diane of Old Bridge, Dr. Kevin O'Brien of New York, Thomas and his wife Stacey of Sparta, and Joseph and his wife Pam of California; and four grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call Saturday, August 1, from 9:30 to 10:45 am, at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11 am, at the All Saints Chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Whiting.
