It is with great sadness that we announce that Panagiotis Filippatos, 72, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on October 27, 2025. Born on April 13, 1953, in Kefalonia, Greece, to Virginia and Agathagelos Filippatos, he came to the United States in 1969, settling in Newark. He lived there and in Kearny, Sparta, and New Providence before moving to Whiting four months ago.

A hard-working man, he was the owner of the Monte Carlo Restaurant in Newark for 23 years. He dedicated his life to supporting his family, whom he cherished deeply. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends and traveling to Greece.

Panagiotis, son of Virginia and Agathagelos Filippatos (deceased), father of James (deceased), is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Ekaterini Filippatos; his sons, Angelo (wife Kerry), and Jerry; his granddaughter Alia; and his siblings George, Hristos, Demetrios, and Aglaia.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 10-11am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 721 Rahway Avenue, Union. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am, with interment immediately following at Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth.
