Peter Westgate, 55, of North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at his daughter's home in Brick. Peter was born and raised in Stapleton, Staten Island, NY. He was a US Army veteran stationed in Germany as an artillery surveyor. He was vice-president at Syska & Henessey Engineers, NY. After moving to North Carolina, he worked for Commonwealth Dynamics, Inc. Peter was an avid hunter, fisherman, and enjoyed woodworking. He was predeceased by his son, Peter, Jr. in 1982, his granddaughter, Millie in 2005 and his parents, Lucy and Peter in 2006. He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Howell; his children, Paddy of Howell, Amy and Gerry of Brick and Kelly of Freehold; his sisters, Susan of Cliffwood Beach and Monica of Northfield; his grandchildren, Laighla, Hailey and Naomi, as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be offered at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 30, at The Church of Visitation, Mantoloking Rd., Brick. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Special Olympics New Jersey, 3 Princess Road, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 Arrangements are under the direction of Aaron Cremation Associates, Inc., Whiting.
