Raymond (Ray) I. Langer, 87, of Whiting, passed away Sunday January 15, 2012 at Community Medical Center. Ray was born in Newark and lived in East Orange before moving to Whiting in 1982. He was a union delegate for Amalgamated Transit Union Local 819, Irvington, NJ. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. Also employed by the Veteran's Administration and a lifetime member of the DAV. Ray was predeceased by his dear friend Virginia Davies in 2010. He is survived by his sister, Mildred Ritter of Whiting; a nephew, Leo Langer and his wife Delores of Jackson; a great-nephew, Christopher Langer of Lakehurst; a great-niece, Veronica Matthews of Jackson; two great-great nephews, Quentin and Emerson. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am, with an 11 am service, Wednesday January 18th at Manchester Memorial Funeral Home, 28 Schoolhouse Road, Whiting. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Whiting Food Bank c/o Community Reformed Church, 30 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759 or a charity of your choice.
